Dr. Rothberg is not a warm and fuzzy doctor. But, I am not looking for a new friend. I am looking for a doctor who sets the bar higher than merely capable . And he's definitely that. He's the only doctor that I've been to that has been able to give me direction on the next step for my multiple issues. My oncologist is only able to advise on cancer. Suggestions for any other issues are ice, heat or pain pills. PCP is even more limited. It gets frustrating when you are left on your own and no idea who to consult. Thankfully, I found Dr. Rothberg. Dr Rothberg is an extremely knowledgeable and experienced orthopedic doctor. He diagnosed the issue with my finger and prescribed the treatment I needed to get full use of the finger. I saw him today and he clearly and simply explained what I need to do in the next phase of treatment. He assured me when following the prescribed treatment, I will gain full function of my finger again. I have full confidence he will ensure the healing and use of my finger. Dr. Rothberg was fast in diagnosing the problem with my hand. I injured it two months ago, and it wasn’t getting better. I was told there was nothing wrong with it after an injury. I had an x-ray and MRI and was told it was just swelling. Dr. Rothberg viewed the previous x-ray, took his own, and saw a fracture that two radiologists and doctors had misdiagnosed. I would highly recommend Dr. Rothberg and the OAWF team if you are in need of any sort of orthopedic care or surgery. It definitely took me a minute to learn Dr. R’s communication style and form of care but I would not have had anyone else surgically put me back together after a bone break. The surgery for my broken wrist went smoothly and the recovery was smooth and nowhere near as bad as I had been anticipating. Overall, a good experience and would have Dr. Rothberg fix me again if needed for future but I am hoping we can leave it at a one time good experience. HahaPatient Submitted Review

So, 5 stars because I would rather have a Dr who tells me like it is, (knowing his stuff) than beats around the bush. Even better... This was a return visit to Dr. Rothberg who has already performed surgeries on four of my fingers over the years. This Practice is very orderly structured. For such a large & busy office, I was pleased the wait was minimal. The staff are all very nice. Dr Rothberg took his time going over what his PA, Chris, had just put me through: the standard mobility exercises. They also took X rays. The consensus was a shot today, see if it works, if not an MRI would most likely be next step. I can tell you, I am dreadfully afraid of shots like this in such a painful place (shoulder). But, if I could give Chris more than 5 🌟's, I would! Very calming, kind and got it done & over with not much pain! 👍 knows what he's doing for sure. My appointment was for 3:00pm. At three I was called back to the doctor's room. At 3:06 a nurse entered and took the vitals. At 3:12 the doctor entered and saw to my needs. He had previously treated my problems. We discussed any future needs since he alleviated my terrible pain. What more can a person expect. ON TIME appointment. NO LONG WAIT for the doctor. Had an appointment with Dr. Rothberg today. He and his staff treated me with respect and professionalism. All had compassion for my wrist pain. Within minutes Dr. Rothberg told me what was wrong with my wrist and gave me 2 options. As he said #2 surgery or #1 injection and a wrist brace. I chose #1. He did not suggest I jump into surgery which I respected very much. He is the 3rd Dr. I have seen at Orthopedic Associates of West Florida. 7/5/22 Trigger finger left ring finger. I've had this surgery two times prior in Alabama. They were successful, but had to be out to sleep. Not so with Dr. Rothberg! His procedure was quick and painless. Surprisingly had to pay $200 out of pocket for a newly invented surgical tool called a TRIGGER TOME, that allowed for minimally invasve surgical technique. I can say, "It has been worth it!. ALmost no pain into 3rd day of POST-OP! Great job Doc...you were worth waiting for ! 45 Minutes of conversation with Nurse Claudia was enjoyable. She was excellent! Everything was great at the orthopedic associates. The reception area was nice and the receptionist was nice. I saw several people there including the radiologist and Dr Rothberg was very helpful, very kind and had a lot of what I call good common sense. My experience with Dr. Rothberg was at first a bit scary because I did not know how bad my broken shoulder was. I did not know what to expect, or how bad my injury was. But I knew for sure that it was very painful. Dr. Rothberg was very, very nice and made me feel comfortable by the degree of Professionalism that he carried and had that down to earth Demeanor about him that I respected right away. I feel very comfortable with talking with him right away because I felt like he truly looked at me like I am not just another number, but as a person who he is helping. Fast forward a month or so... I had a complication with a pharmacy issue in which medicine was backordered... They gladly called the prescription into another pharmacy. I went to check on it and the pharmacy didn't have any record of me having a prescription there. After finding out that the pharmacy put the prescription on hold without notifying anyone, I was confused and aggravated kinda stuck in pain with no help, until a wonderful member of Dr. Rothberg's staff "Angie" got to the bottom of this issue for me (ON A SATURDAY OF ALL DAYS). I guess what I'm trying to say is it's the little things like going out of the way to do the best possible. Nevertheless, I wish I never had to meet any doctor or break my shoulder for that matter, but I am certainly glad that Dr. Rothberg and everyone in his staff are the wonderful people helping care for me and my injury.... Words cannot fully express my deep appreciation for Dr. Rothberg and his staff! I had the misfortune of breaking my dominant hand (falling off my bicycle) just before we moved across country – literally the night before I was to fly out to our new home. X-ray at urgent care revealed it was an angulated boxer’s fracture and would need to be realigned, but the orthopedic surgeon who saw me two days later (needless to say that next day flight had been cancelled) said it would be better to hold off and receive such a procedure from a doctor local to our new residence, as long as we could set an appointment ASAP. Miracle of miracles, my husband and I flew to our new home three days later, and the day after that is when I had my first appointment with Dr. Rothberg. He and his staff, including his nurse Paula, could not have been more accommodating and reassuring. As anyone knows, moving is already a chaotic period in a person’s life, but to be dealing with a fractured hand on top of that was definitely one stress to many for me. But even in my state of bewilderment, right away I felt secure that “my hand was in good hands,” so to speak. Dr. Rothberg was concise but also upbeat and sympathetic in explaining his assessment and the course of treatment we would be taking. It quickly became clear that he and his staff strive to be extremely meticulous and thorough, so as to do things right and promote the best possible outcome. At times the waiting room was quite the beehive of patients, but most of the time I was called in very quickly. I won’t say the experience of being in a cast for seven weeks, then having to rehab my hand was the most delightful experience ever, especially since I normally depend on typing as 99% of my job and just with that task alone had to learn how to use dictation software (I won’t go into all of the everyday actions that also had to be re-imagined with my dominant hand out of commission). But the one silver lining that kept my spirits up was believing that Dr. Rothberg and his staff were pulling for me, and ready to do whatever was needed to accommodate my needs, patiently and cheerfully. I wound up needing my cast adjusted twice, due to an inherent condition of poor circulation, and yet not once did I sense annoyance or “being put out” on anyone’s part. On the contrary, everyone went out of their way to make sure I was fully taken care of. Ultimately, my hand fully healed and regained total function, and there’s no doubt in my mind that I owe this to Dr. Rothberg’s expertise and dedication. Many thanks to him and all of his staff! New Year’s Day I had a bicycle accident which broke my right wrist, I called Orthopedics Associates of West Florida, by Morton Plant Hospital, I was connected with Dr. Rothberg. As soon as I met him I liked him immediately, he gave me my statistical chances of recovering, casting versus vs surgery. I really like the way he approached me a week or so later he was discussing more surgical options, Which he knew I was not emotionally or mentally ready for. This week I was able to adequately communicate to him and appeal to to him, I showed him pictures of my friends surgery which was very frightening and he understood I also showed him a video of me playing the piano and he understood, being a pianist that surgery could interfere with that talent, he was completely understanding, professional and cooperative, I really appreciate his candor and the way he communicates at least you know where he stands. The staff was absolutely amazing. I had one uncomfortable cast and right away they replaced it no problem. I have never had to wait there longer than five minutes. Social distancing and mask, and temperature monitoring requirements are in place for everyone safety. I have definitely found an orthopedic physician that will listen.Patient Submitted Review

They followed Covid 19 regulations throughout my visit. This was my first visit and I was impressed. No wait time, prompt and courteous service, efficient and knowledgeable staff. I was treated extremely well. I would highly recommend Dr. Rothberg and the Orthopaedics Association of West Florida. Since coming to Florida over 16 years ago it has been my experience that doctors think because you are retired you have nothing better to do and it is ok to let you wait. Thank you, Dr. Rothberg, for an informative and clinically helpful visit to your office today. During my visit I saw the nurse, the x-ray techs, the PA and Dr. Rothberg, then the nurse again. I was there for several hours, but my case was well researched and I felt well cared for by each person. My questions were answered and my initial reason for going was discussed, as I thought I might need surgery on my arthritic thumb. I have been seeing a rheumatologist and have had several steroid injections in my basilar thumb joints, but Dr. Rothberg suggested some of my trouble may be caused by the ligaments, and trigger finger. I ended up agreeing as my thumbs get "stuck" often. I was given an injection in each thumb which was well done by the nurse. I was also prescribed a 3-D brace for my hand to help rest the thumb, and Diclofenac gel for my joints. I appreciated that Dr. Rothberg did not want me to jump to surgery. I was is treated with courtesy and had time to ask questions and get details. I saw at least six staff members which were very kind and did their job well. Dr. Rothberg was clinically adept, inquisitive, and came up with a diagnosis that the rheumatologist had not come up with. I would recommend highly. My arthritic basilar thumb joint was not responding to injection treatment by the rheumatologist. I thought I must need surgery next. Dr. Rothberg suggested my problems may be also related to trigger finger in both thumbs, so suggested injections, a brace for the worst hand, and also diclofenac gel for discomfort. If these things do not work, then we should discuss surgery. I appreciated his candor and found him to be a pleasant person, with a serious job to do. I have every confidence that I am in good hands with Dr. Rothberg and his wonderful staff. I was handled with care and everyone was friendly. Yes, I had to wait, but there was a lot going on with my case. I rather wait and know I have been carefully considered, even as far as to make sure my insurance would cover the brace he suggested. I have had two surgeries for Dupuytren's contracture, The last by Dr. M. Rothberg. When I need a third surgery for Duputren, Dr. Rothberg suggest the use of Xiaflex injection. I had the injection on Wed., very little pain, and on Fri., under local anesthetic my finger was straightened. I was awed and amazed. Very little after pain and I was golfing on Monday. Doc Rothberg is really easy to talk to and explain how you're feeling. He's very laid back and to the point. He has a dry sense of humor and is very cordial. If I was ever to break a shoulder or arm he's the guy I would go to.
