Dr Cooper and team changed my life for the better, 100%. A couple of weeks ago I finally got surgery. My quality of life is completely different and Dr Cooper said it would be. It changed the day of surgery, my hip pain was totally gone. Incredible. Leading to the surgery Dane was great. He was patient explaining all the details of the procedure and the implant. Walked through everything with me. Not only before surgery but afterwards as well. Dr Cooper and team made day of and surgery a comfortable experience. I need both hips replaced. I have only had 2 office visits and today's visit was to squeeze me in between patients, due to a finger infection, b4 my upcoming hand surgery.After seeing the x-ray and seeing Dr, my anxiety and stress was gone. First, I got to see Dr. Wisotsky. Second, he had a model that helped illustrate my problems and how he was going to fix it. Last visit, the PA didn’t introduce herself and we had to use pictures of the shoulder anatomy that I had downloaded from the Internet because there were none available in the exam room or office. The use of pictures and models should be standard protocol for reviewing MRI results and describing the repairs. Each patient should leave the office with a picture of the relevant joint anatomy and markups by the surgeon to show what’s wrong and how it is going to be fixed. The support staff, for the most part is excellent. Extremely knowledgeable, and courteous. Some of the doctors could take more time with patients, but thank goodness there are PAs who will do so and will often do it better. Dr. Michael Werner is an exception to my comment about physician patient care at OAWF. He is kind, concerned, and will do whatever possible to help you with your concerns. I have never met a better podiatrist or surgeon. I saw Dr. Cottrell today for a knee issue. He was pleasant and knowledgeable, but unfortunately in a huge hurry to move onto the next patient. When his PA Brooke came to the room to give me a Cortizone injection, I instantly felt more comfortable with her. She seemed genuinely interested in helping me and answering my questions. I made my next appointment with her. I don’t need handholding, but having a reasonable amount of time with my physician, especially on my first visit would be appreciated and is important. I'm always so happy with my visits with Dane Olsen. He is very kind, soft spoken, and knowledgeable. Today, he explained to me what would be done during my knee replacement on Dec.15th. He used a model of the bones and the replacement part to explain, which was very enlightening. He answered any questions that I still had, and gave me reminders of things to do within the next two weeks. He's always thorough and very professional. Now, that it's getting closer to the surgery, I was getting some anxiety, but he reassured me about how good Dr. Cooper is. Of course, there are always risks to consider, but Dr. Cooper's success rate is very high. Excellent surgeon!! Replaced both of my bone on bone arthritic hips 4 years apart. I could walk around the house without a walker or pain meds 3 days after the surgery and walk around the block a week later with minimal discomfort. Dr. Cottrell and staff were excellent. I went for a problem that I thought was my calf muscle and the doctor was able to determine that it was actually a problem in my back instead. He recommended me to another doctor in his group and they got me an appointment right away. So many times big groups feel like a machine that you are just getting ground through. Dr. Cottrell was not condescending at all as so many doctors in large practices can be, making you feel like they want to get you in and out as quickly as possible. Just had my second total knee replacement with Dr. Cottrell. The first one was a great success and I was back riding my horse in 3 months only because he made me wait that long. Thus far the left one is doing well. On tylenol the max my pain has been is a one. Will see how it is on day 2. I am seeing Dr. Cottrell for a bad knee. He and his staff have tried to fix my knee without surgery. I have done cortisone shots, gel injections, arthroscopic surgery and pt with no relief. I am now scheduled for a full knee replacement as that is all that is left. He does not rush into surgery until you have tried all the other options. His staff Becky, Barb and Nicole are the best. Dr Cooper did a fantastic job on my knee replacement. Plus the computerized bike and ice / cooler machine that he specified made my recovery go so much faster. I had my one need done 4 years ago in California and this one was so much better, and I am already at full range of motion in two and a half weeks which is unbelievable compared to my previous experience - which was actually good at the time. I am from out of town. Came to Fl to spend time with friends after losing my Mom and Husband in the last 6-8 mos. Then also had to put our family dog of 17 yrs down. I tripped and broke my wrist. The office environment here is comfortable and the staff friendly and professional. I had completed the check-in documents online ahead of my appointment so check-in was quick and smooth. I had arrive quite early so I had a little wait, but was taken in on time. The nurse doing the initial review with me was friendly and very professional. I was impressed with how smoothly the entire process was run. Dr Cottrell was awesome. Professional, easily understood, and great at communicating both during his assessment and then with recommendations and best path forward. He was willing to do cortisone injections but suggested that if I could manage without that would be a good way to go. Since I've been using over the counter lidocaine cream for the elbow pain and it has bee sufficient I really didn't want any injections, so I was happy he didn't push it. We discussed options and he referred me to physical therapy and clearly discussed what to expect. His clear communication, listening and responding well to my questions and concerns, and overall professional manner made this one of the best experiences possible. I had severe right knee pain that I broke down and went to the ER for. I went ahead and scheduled an Ortho visit to follow up. I was able to get an appt 2 days out. I have been looking for an honest doctor for over six month for my TKA. Every doctor I saw had their own agenda on what implant to use and why, one suggested a partial !.. so I can get a total in a year !. Finally found Dr. Cooper, what a breath of fresh air !. I just had a total knee replacement on my right knee.,I had the surgery on 17th June out of the hospital and home the 18th June. I am doing great. I owe that to Dr. Cottrell and Brooke his wonderful PA. They have a great staff also. Everyone listens to you and I had a major concern regarding Anesthesia. I had my left knee replacement done many years ago and in another state. I was in the hospital for a week due to complications. I explained to Dr. Cottrell and Brooke about my reaction from the last surgery and did not want a repeat. Dr. Cottrell said what he was going to do and how it will be done, and it was.
